Packing Up

Transfers

Once again I'm the victim of transfer news. That's right, today I might not respond to your emails because I'll be packing my bags to go to Bahía Blanca where I will be baptizing converts in my new ward Villa Mitre 1. 

Which means you'll all see me in the temple open house!! Who knows what days I'll be going, but I'm going to be in Bahía real close to the temple which is a huge blessing! 

I'll be companions with Hermana Jorgensen who I don't know, but next week I'm sure we'll already be besties! 

I have to pack so we'll just do a quick recap of the week

• Hermana Bertadyn took out her wisdom teeth so we spent 2 days in the house! I thought the rest would help my foot yet it's still bigger than the empire state building 😔
• We started English Classes! I need the practice because I keep talking to my family in Spanish on Pdays
• We had a ward activity to welcome in the Spring! 
• Our convert Milagros gifted me some crochet "forever flowers" to say goodbye 🫶🏻 I love her 🥹
• Sang in the Ward Choir for Ward Conference 
• Ate strawberries to welcome in the Spring!!

Spiritual Thought 

This week as I was reading 2 Nephi and reflecting on the passing of our prophet Russell M Nelson, I read this part in Chapter 18 that made me think of his talk "Overcome the World and Find Rest." 

"11 For the Lord spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying: 

12 Say ye not, A confederacy, to all to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. 

13 Sanctify the Lord of Hosts himself, and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread." 

I like how it says that we should not walk in the way of this people. It reminds me of President Nelson's counsel that although we live in the world, we should not be of the world. We need to remember who we really are as children of God. Be different. Live our standards. 

I know that Russell M Nelson was a prophet of God who guided us and taught us how to prepare ourselves for Christ's second coming. I know that our next prophet will do the same for us as we prepare ourselves to hear his voice this weekend. 

It will take some time to get accustomed to the new voice of God, but I am so grateful for all Russell M Nelson taught us. This week let us prepare to hear God's voice. Let us remember that though we live in the world, we are not of the world.

Traslados

Una vez más, me encuentro con noticias de traslados. Así es, hoy quizás no responda a sus correos porque estaré haciendo las maletas para ir a Bahía Blanca, donde bautizaré a conversos en mi nuevo barrio, Villa Mitre 1.

¡Lo que significa que me verán en las puertas abiertas del templo! Quién sabe qué días iré, pero estaré en Bahía, muy cerca del templo, ¡lo cual es una gran bendición!

Seré compañera de la Hermana Jorgensen, a quien no conozco, ¡pero la semana que viene seguro que ya seremos mejores amigas!

Tengo que empacar, así que haremos un breve resumen de la semana.

• ¡La Hermana Bertadyn se sacó las muelas del juicio, así que pasamos dos días en la casa! Pensé que el descanso me ayudaría con el pie, aunque sigue siendo más grande que el Empire State Building 😔
• ¡Empezamos con Clases de inglés! Necesito practicar porque no dejo de hablar con mi familia en español los Pdays.
• ¡Tuvimos una actividad de barrio para dar la bienvenida a la primavera!
• • Nuestra conversa Milagros me regaló unas "flores eternas" tejidas a crochet para despedirme. 🫶🏻 ¡La adoro! 🥹
• Canté en el coro de barrio para la conferencia de barrio.
• ¡Comí frutillas para dar la bienvenida a la primavera! 😋

Pensamiento espiritual

Esta semana, mientras leía 2 Nefi y reflexionaba sobre el fallecimiento de nuestro profeta Russell M. Nelson, leí esta parte del capítulo 18 que me hizo pensar en su discurso "Vence al mundo y halla descanso".

" 11 Porque el Señor de este modo me habló con mano fuerte, y me instruyó que no anduviese por el camino de este pueblo, diciendo: 12 No llaméis conspiración a todo lo que este pueblo llama conspiración; ni temáis lo que ellos temen, ni tengáis miedo. 13 Al Señor de los Ejércitos santificad; y sea él vuestro temor, y sea él vuestro miedo."

Me gusta cómo dice que no debemos andar por el camino de este pueblo. Me recuerda el consejo del presidente Nelson de que, aunque vivamos en el mundo, no debemos ser del mundo. Necesitamos recordar quiénes somos realmente como hijos de Dios. Seamos diferentes. Vivan según nuestras normas.

Sé que Russell M. Nelson fue un profeta de Dios que nos guió y nos enseñó a prepararnos para la segunda venida de Cristo. Sé que nuestro próximo profeta hará lo mismo por nosotros mientras nos preparamos para escuchar su voz este fin de semana. Tomará tiempo acostumbrarse a la nueva voz de Dios, pero estoy muy agradecido por todo lo que Russell M. Nelson nos enseñó. Esta semana, preparémonos para escuchar la voz de Dios. Recordemos que, aunque vivimos en el mundo, no somos del mundo.

Capitalist Schemes

Double Divisions! 

On Wednesday we had divisions with the Hermanas in General Pico so we took a bus to get over there and had a super fun day! There's no proof I went because I totally forgot to take pictures, but I did take a video so at least there's that! 

I spent the day with Hermana Kozameh and we had a great time!! She's super funny and has a sarcastic sense of humor like mine so we got along great. We had a crazy miracle where we stopped this guy in the street and starting talking to him about the Gospel, and he told us he wants to get baptized and he had just started to get clean from a lot of past addictions so that was pretty cool! 

On Thursday we had divisions with the Hermanas from Pehuajo who were in Santa Rosa for some legal paperwork things! I was with Hermana Rodas who is super awesome and super energetic! 

We had some super fun lessons and talked to some great people! We also drank a lot of Coke, put people on date to get baptized, and got yelled at by a woman about how the church is all a capitalist scheme! 

Doctors Visit! 

Went to a Traumatologo who looked at my foot that's been swollen for 3 weeks and tells me she thinks my foots infected so she gave me antibiotics! I don't really understand how my foot could be infected but I trust. Also she sent me to buy $45 compression socks that I think is just a capitalist scheme to rob my money but I do want my foot to get better so I caved and bought them. 

Other Things

• Tried to walk with one of our friends to church but she got so tired that halfway we had to ask if a member could pick her up in a car. 

• Rained and hailed like crazy so the church flooded and the water came up from under the tile floor, breaking a lot of the tiles.

• In General Pico we talked to a woman who did not agree with our religious beliefs and shredded the pamphlets we gave her and proceeding to send us 5 angry text messages throughout the course of the day with bible verses explaining why our church isn't true. 

Spiritual Thought 

I liked these scriptures from the "Come Follow Me" this week that say, 

"And Zion cannot be built up unless it is by the principles of the law of the celestial kingdom; otherwise I cannot receive her unto myself. 6 And my people must needs be chastened until they learn obedience, if it must needs be, by the things which they suffer." (D&C 105:5-6)

The lord's kingdom can only be built by celestial principles, there's not any other way. That means that we need to change our bad habits to do things his way. 

I like verse 6 because it talks about how we will learn obedience through suffering. Every action has it's consequences and I think a lot of the time we learn when our actions have bad consequences. If we choose to be rude, we won't have very many friends, if we choose to lie, people wont trust us, and so on. 

If we choose not to live in a Godly way, we won't be entitled to the associated blessings, and we will suffer the consequences of our bad actions. God doesn't do it to punish us, it's just the way things work, bad actions have bad consequences, good actions have good consequences. God will bless us for our obedience to his laws!

¡Divisiones Dobles!

El miércoles tuvimos divisiones con las Hermanas de General Pico, así que tomamos un cole para ir y pasamos un día súper divertido! No tengo pruebas de haber ido porque se me olvidó tomar fotos, pero sí grabé un video, ¡así que al menos eso queda!

Pasé el día con la Hermana Kozameh y nos lo pasamos genial! Ella es súper graciosa y tiene un sentido del humor sarcástico como el mío, así que nos llevamos genial. Tuvimos un milagro increíble: paramos a un hombre en la calle y empezamos a hablarle del Evangelio. Nos dijo que quería bautizarse y que acababa de empezar a limpiarse de muchas adicciones pasadas, ¡así que fue milagroso!

El jueves tuvimos divisiones con las Hermanas de Pehuajó, que estaban en Santa Rosa por unos trámites. Estuve con la Hermana Rodas Castillo, que es genial y tiene mucha energía.

Tuvimos unas lecciones súper divertidas y hablamos con gente buena. También tomamos mucha Coca-Cola, invitamos a gente a bautizarse y una mujer nos gritó diciendo que la iglesia es un plan capitalista.

¡Visita al médico!

Fui a un traumatólogo que me revisó el pie, que llevaba hinchado tres semanas, y me dijo que cree que se me ha infectado, así que me recetó antibióticos! No entiendo bien cómo se me ha infectado el pie, pero confío. También me mandó a comprar medias de compresión de 45 $, lo cual creo que es un plan capitalista para robarme el dinero, pero quiero que se me mejore el pie, así que cedí y las compré.

Otras cosas

• Intentamos caminar con una amiga a la iglesia, pero estaba tan cansada que a mitad de camino tuvimos que preguntar si un miembro podía recogerla en coche.

• Llovió y granizó muchísimo, así que la iglesia se inundó y el agua se filtró por debajo del suelo de baldosas, rompiendo muchas.

• En General Pico hablamos con una mujer que no estaba de acuerdo con nuestras creencias religiosas y destrozó los folletos que le dimos. A lo largo del día, nos envió cinco mensajes de texto furiosos con versículos bíblicos que explicaban por qué nuestra iglesia no es verdadera.

Pensamiento espiritual

Me gustaron estas escrituras del Ven sígueme de esta semana que dicen:

"5 y no se puede edificar a Sion sino de acuerdo con los principios de la ley del reino celestial; de otra manera, no la puedo recibir para mí mismo. 6 Y es necesario que mi pueblo sea disciplinado hasta que aprenda la obediencia, si es menester, por las cosas que padece." (D. y C. 105:5-6)

El reino del Señor solo puede edificarse mediante principios celestiales; no hay otra manera. Eso significa que debemos cambiar nuestros malos hábitos para hacer las cosas a su manera.

Me gusta el versículo 6 porque habla de cómo aprenderemos a obedecer mediante el sufrimiento. Toda acción tiene sus consecuencias, y creo que muchas veces aprendemos cuándo nuestras acciones tienen consecuencias negativas. Si elegimos ser groseros, no tendremos muchos amigos; si elegimos mentir, la gente no confiará en nosotros, etc.

Si elegimos no vivir de una manera piadosa, no tendremos derecho a nuestras bendiciones y sufriremos las consecuencias de nuestras malas acciones. Dios no lo hace para castigarnos, simplemente es así: las malas acciones tienen malas consecuencias, las buenas acciones tienen buenas consecuencias. ¡Dios nos bendecirá por nuestra obediencia a sus leyes!

Tomorrow is just a Day Away

Baptisms!

David and Eduardo got baptized!! It was a great day and they were so happy to make this big change in their lives! The day of his baptism David asked the Elderes if he could leave to teach with them and told us if the Elderes didn't call him he was going to leave alone and start preaching in the street. Safe to say he's converted to the gospel with passion! 

Eduardo was so nervous and brought a bunch of food to the baptism to share in gratitude for our help preparing him for baptism. He asked for a photo with all the missionaries to have a souvenir of this special, unforgettable day! 

Leadership Council! 

On Tuesday we had Leadership Council which was so great!! Brother Littlefield came to share with us who is a man hired by the church to help missions baptize more. He taught us a lot of things and I've got my eye on the prize that this mission can reach 100 baptisms in the month I go home! 🤩

Other things! 

• The bishop told us to come to the Ward Choir practice, I asked him if he wanted us to find people to baptize or join the choir. He said Choir so now we're 2 of the 4 women in the ward choir 

• Did a silly little dance this week with Hermana Bertadyn to celebrate a great week!

• Officially have less than 100 days before I go home 

• Will be going to the temple open house when it happens 🫶🏻

• Almost didn't let David get baptized because he didn't want to tell us any of the information from his divorce because "the past is dead." Maybe for you, but not for the Ward Clerk who is filling out your baptismal form. 

Spiritual Thought! 

This is from a super old talk in 1974 by Elder Maxwell that's called Why Not Now? 

"However, Joshua didn’t say choose you next year whom you will serve; he spoke of “this day,” while there is still daylight and before the darkness becomes more and more normal. (See Josh. 24:15.) When Jesus called his first disciples, the scriptures record that they left their ships and nets “straightway.” They didn’t ask to join Jesus after the fishing season; they didn’t even delay their response in order to make just one more catch. They left “straightway”! (See Matt. 4:20.)" 

If we have changes to make in our lives, if we need to return to the church, if we need to do something, the time is now. 

The hardest game you will play is the "not yet" game, because not yet means never. The time is now, make the changes necessary right now because tomorrow becomes tomorrow and one day there won't be more tomorrows.

¡Bautismos!

David y Eduardo se bautizaron! ¡Fue un día maravilloso y estaban muy felices de haber hecho este gran cambio en sus vidas! El día de su bautismo, David les preguntó a los Elderes si podía salir a enseñar con ellos y nos dijo que si no lo llamaban, se iría solo y comenzaría a predicar en la calle. ¡Se puede decir que se ha convertido al evangelio con pasión!

Eduardo estaba muy nervioso y trajo mucha comida al su bautismo para compartir en agradecimiento por nuestra ayuda en la preparación. ¡Pidió una foto con todos los misioneros para tener un recuerdo de este día tan especial e inolvidable!

¡Consejo de Lideres!

El martes tuvimos el Consejo de Lideres y estuvo genial! El hermano Littlefield vino a compartir con nosotros, un hombre contratado por la iglesia para ayudar a las misiones a bautizar más. Nos enseñó muchas cosas y tengo la vista puesta en el premio: ¡esta misión puede alcanzar los 100 bautismos en el mes que regrese a casa! 🤩

¡Otras cosas!  

• El obispo nos dijo que fuéramos al ensayo del coro del barrio. Le pregunté si quería que buscáramos personas para bautizar o que nos uniéramos al coro. Dijo que al coro, así que ahora somos 2 de las 4 mujeres del coro del barrio.

• Esta semana hicimos un bailecito divertido con la hermana Bertadyn para celebrar una semana genial!

• Oficialmente me quedan menos de 100 días para irme a casa. 😥

• Iré a las puertas abiertas del templo cuando sea. 🫶🏻

• Casi no dejo que David se bautizara porque no quería darnos nada de la información de su divorcio porque "el pasado ya no existe". Quizás para ti, pero no para el secretario del barrio que está llenando tu formulario de bautismo.

¡Pensamiento espiritual!

Esto es de una charla muy antigua de 1974 del élder Maxwell titulada "¿Por qué no ahora?".

 Sin embargo, Josué no dijo: "Elijan el año que viene a quién servirán; habló de «hoy», mientras aún hay luz de día y antes de que la oscuridad se vuelva cada vez más normal. (Véase Josué 24:15). Cuando Jesús llamó a sus primeros discípulos, las Escrituras registran que dejaron sus barcas y redes «al instante». No pidieron unirse a Jesús después de la temporada de pesca; ni siquiera demoraron su respuesta para hacer una pesca más. ¡Se fueron «al instante»! (Véase Mateo 4:20)."

Si tenemos que hacer cambios en nuestras vidas, si necesitamos regresar a la iglesia, si necesitamos hacer algo, el momento es ahora.

El juego más difícil que jugarás es el del "todavía no", porque "todavía no" significa nunca. El momento es ahora: haz los cambios necesarios ahora mismo porque el mañana se convierte en mañana y un día no habrá más mañanas.
