Still Thinking About Those Rocklet Facturas

Rainy Divisions 

Had divisions with Hermana Westover! She is super awesome and we had fun on a super rainy day! We were outside in a torrential downpour, but we ended up putting someone on baptismal date! 

In the afternoon it was raining so hard it started hailing but we didn't let that stop us! We kept going and found a woman who felt so bad for us out in the rain that sue let us into her house and we drank hot chocolate! 

We also started talking to the Uber on the way to take Hermana Westover back to her area and he was super interested in going to the temple. 

So the next day with Hermana Jorgensen we went to the temple with him and he said he wanted to be baptized!!! He doesn't actually live in our area, so we passed his point along but it was a super miracle! 

16 months! 

Celebrated 16 months as a missionary by eating my favorite Empanadas and drinking Coca-Cola! Then of course an alfajor for dessert! 

I just love empanadas!

It's crazy that I already have 16 months in the mission! Time flys by way too fast and let's just say I am not ready to take off my tag! 

Miraculous Sunday! 

So this Sunday we were on our way to church, and not one friend we had was going to church with us. Every single one we called canceled on us, every house we passed by no one answered or said they couldn't go. So we were feeling a little depressed, but with faith that God was going to work miracles!! 

And he did! As we got to church a woman who we had sent a WhatsApp message to inviting to the temple randomly showed up at church! Then we had a man who we had invited in the street last Sunday on the way to church came this Sunday!! It was so incredible! 

Other things! 

• We ate Rocklet Facturas which were so good I'm still dreaming about them! 

• Heard a surprising number of first kiss stories from the many Hermanas who came and went

• We got blocked on WhatsApp for Spam 

• Went to the temple on Saturday and almost 4000 people went!!

• Made Banana Bread! 

• Got to see Hermana Bertadyn, Hermana Villagrán, and Hermana Orellano! 🫶🏻

• Hermana Jorgensen almost had a heart attack, and I won't elaborate 

Spiritual Thought

A long scripture I liked this week while reading Mosíah 14 describes Jesus Christ saying, 

" For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground; he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him there is no beauty that we should desire him. 

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 

4 Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.  

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." 

I love these verses so much. I think sometimes in our lives we feel alone, we feel like in us there is "no beauty that we should be desired" or that we are "despised and rejected" or "acquainted with grief." Yet Jesus Christ knows exactly how we feel. He already felt it. He already paid the price. 

Truly Jesus is a man of grief. He has felt all our pains, and through him we are saved. Because he suffered, we can be healed from all our wounds. Let us let go of our grief, our sins, our pain, and remember that it's already paid for. We don't need to keep onto regrets, or what ifs, because Jesus already did. 

His sacrifice wasn't in vain, he did it for love. Let us show our love for him by honoring that sacrifice and letting go of all our pains and turning more fully to him.

Divisiones bajo la lluvia

¡Tuve divisiones con la Hermana Westover! ¡Es increíble y nos divertimos mucho en un día lluvioso! Estábamos afuera bajo una re tormenta ¡pero terminamos poniendo fecha bautismal con alguien!

Por la tarde llovió tan fuerte que empezó a granizar, ¡pero no dejamos que eso nos detuviera! Seguimos adelante y encontramos a una mujer que se compadeció mucho de nosotros bajo la lluvia, así que nos dejó entrar a su casa y tomamos chocolate caliente.

También empezamos a hablar con el Uber de camino para llevar a la Hermana Westover de vuelta a su area y él estaba súper interesado en ir al templo.

Así que al día siguiente fuimos al templo con la Hermana Jorgensen y ¡dijo que quería bautizarse! Él no vive en nuestra atea, así que pasamos su punto, ¡pero fue un milagro!

¡16 meses!

¡Celebré mis 16 meses como misionera comiendo mis empanadas favoritas y bebiendo Coca-Cola! ¡Y, por supuesto, un alfajor como postre!

¡Qué locura que ya lleve 16 meses en la misión! ¡El tiempo vuela y digamos que no estoy lista para quitarme la etiqueta!

¡Domingo milagroso!

Este domingo íbamos camino a la iglesia y ningún amigo nuestro iba con nosotros. Todos los que llamamos nos cancelaron y en cada casa que pasamos nadie contestó o dijo que no podía ir. Así que nos sentíamos un poco deprimidos, ¡pero con fe en que Dios obraría milagros!

¡Y así fue! Al llegar a la iglesia, una mujer a la que le habíamos enviado un WhatsApp para invitarla al templo apareció por casualidad. ¡Luego, este domingo vino un hombre al que habíamos invitado en la calle el domingo pasado camino a la iglesia! ¡Fue increíble!

¡Otras cosas!

• Comimos facturas Rocklet, ¡tan ricas que todavía sueño con ellas!  

• Escuché una cantidad sorprendente de historias de primeros besos de las muchas hermanas que iban y venían.

• Nos bloquearon en WhatsApp por spam.

• Fuimos al templo el sábado y ¡fueron casi 4000 personas!

• ¡Preparé pan de banana!

• ¡Vi a la Hermana Bertadyn, la Hermana Villagrán y la Hermana Orellano! 🫶🏻

• La Hermana Jorgensen casi sufre un infarto, y no entraré en detalles.

Pensamiento Espiritual

Un pasaje largo que me gustó esta semana mientras leía Mosíah 14 describe a Jesucristo diciendo:

"Porque crecerá delante de él como una planta tierna, y como raíz de tierra seca; no hay en él parecer ni hermosura; y cuando lo veamos, no habrá en él buen parecer para que lo deseemos. 

3 Despreciado y rechazado de los hombres; varón de dolores y experimentado en quebranto; y como que escondimos de él el rostro; fue menospreciado y no lo estimamos. 

4 Ciertamente él ha llevado nuestros pesares y sufrido nuestros dolores; sin embargo, lo hemos tenido por golpeado, herido de Dios y afligido. 

5 Mas él herido fue por nuestras transgresiones, golpeado por nuestras iniquidades; y el castigo de nuestra paz fue sobre él; y con sus llagas somos sanados."

Me encantan estos versículos. Creo que a veces nos sentimos solos, como si no tuviéramos "un buen parecer para ser deseados", como si fuéramos "despreciados y rechazados", o como si estuviéramos "experimentado en quebranto". Sin embargo, Jesucristo sabe exactamente cómo nos sentimos. Él ya lo sintió. Ya pagó el precio.

Verdaderamente, Jesús es un varón de dolores. Ha sentido todos nuestros dolores, y por él somos salvos. Porque él sufrió, podemos ser sanados de todas nuestras heridas. Dejemos ir nuestro dolor, nuestros pecados, nuestro dolor, y recordemos que ya pagó por ello. No necesitamos preguntarnos qué hubiera pasado si… porque Jesús ya lo hizo.

Su sacrificio no fue en vano, lo hizo por amor. Demostrémosle nuestro amor honrando ese sacrificio, dejando ir todos nuestros dolores y volviéndonos más plenamente a él.

This was a packed week with a whole bunch of things to talk about so this week we're going to do a day by day breakdown! 

Monday 

Started out the day buying and eating an absolutely ginormous pizza! (We didn't know how big it would be before buying it.) Then learned how to play Soccer, I'm basically Messi. 

Tuesday 

Divisions with the sisters from VM2B! I was with Hermana Napa and Hermana Farnsworth! We all end the mission at the same time but #nevertrunky. We invited like a million people to the temple open house and had a fire lesson where we received like 8 references from a member! Then of course we finished the day with Grido and I reunited with my beloved Hermana Jorgensen. 💕

Wednesday 

Hermana Jorgensen's birthday!! I whipped out the streamers, lights, and birthday candles and we had a partyyyy! (Well as much of a party as you can have while having to work all day as a missionary.) 

I made Brownies and we ate them with ice cream!! We also ate Grilled Cheese and Tomato soup! I made a video of all her friends and family singing 22 by Taylor Swift as she fittingly turns 22.

Thursday

First Day of the Temple Open House and we went to the temple at 7:30am and didn't go home until 9pm. It was a crazy day! We were the Hermanas in charge of coordinating everything for the day and it was incredible how the people didn't stop coming! There were a little more than 1,000 people who came that first day which is crazy! 

It was such a good experience. We didn't go inside the temple, we were just there at the start to give the guidelines and the end to answer questions. It was so amazing to see the people leave the temple. Literally every single person who left, left impacted. We asked literally every single person what they felt inside and there wasn't a single person who didn't say "Peace". 

There were even 2 people I talked to who didn't believe in God, and they told me in the Celestial Room they felt dizzy, like there was such a power feeling they felt dizzy. 

One woman told me that in the Celestial Room she felt Jesus Christ and God sitting right next to her. Then she commented that she wanted to be sealed to her husband who had died. 

There were so many marvelous experiences that I can't even count them all. There was even a familia from Alexandria Virginia who came to see the temple! They didn't speak hardly any Spanish, but the father had served his mission here and they came to see the temple! 

Finishing the day was exhausting but so special! 

Friday

Bomb interviews with President! Didn't ask me a single thing about MyPlan so I'm not even going to do it. Talking with President always makes me so sure that everything he does is guided by God and he really recives revelation just for me! 

But it also shows me the way to be more christlike and to always be humble like him and willing to learn from my mistakes. 

Also crazy random but in the Street there was a song that randomly popped into my head and so in my head I was singing it and like 1 minute later Hermana Jorgensen says, "dang this super random song just popped into my head." 

She starts singing the same song I just had stuck in my head!! "When can I see you again" by Owl City. It was so random and crazy and it proves that we really are twins. 

Saturday

A super awesome morning of visiting people. We visited a member in the morning and shared a scripture and she liked it so much that then she invited us over for lunch. We ate like all my favorite foods, empanadas, milanesas, and French fries!! Also Hermana Antuña calls us saying that the Saturday shift is way too packed and she needs us to come to the Temple. Literally more than 4,000 people came to see this special building! 

So we go and I get to see everyone from Santa Rosa, especially my Beloved family Gonzalez who I snapped a quick pic with. And then everyone from TRES ARROYOS!! I saw Brenda, the Annechini, the Rodriguez, and most importantly Cintia and Candela!! They went to the temple for the first time and left sobbing! 

It was such a special experience for them and their new favorite place in the whole world is the temple! I also got to meet Carmelito who was born just after I left! It was such a special experience and I will admit that some tears were shed. 

This woman said she wants to find a Mormon husband so she can be sealed in the temple.

Sunday

I can make Mac and Cheese from Scratch! This is my Chef Transfer where I learn how to cook extravagant foods. 

The day was packed with meetings but basically we had a mission wide Devotional where President talked about the importance of finding Chosen people. The people who are already ready right now. It was pretty great!

Also ate dinner with this incredible family whi gave us Asado!!! It was so yummy. Literally incredible I ate so much that I basically rolled home. It was such a fun experience because they are such funny people and the mom is from Chile and her son just finished his mission there 3 months ago so I was listening to all the Chilean Slang like Yapo, Al Tiro, Cuico, Flighty, etc. 

For a second I was with Hermana Villagrán again. It was so fun and I miss my beloved mission daughter and learning Chilean slang words. 🫶🏻

Also happy Argentinian Mothers Day! 

Spiritual Thought 

It always seems to be centered on the temple, but it's just so special to have a temple right now!! 

D&C 109:13 "13 And that all people who shall enter upon the threshold of the Lord’s house may feel thy power, and feel constrained to acknowledge that thou hast sanctified it, and that it is thy house, a place of thy holiness."

Everyone who left the temple left different. Maybe they didn't understand why, but we know why. It's literally impossible that all these people leave so impacted if this wasn't the Lord's House. I testify that the Temple is the most sacred place on earth, and the more time we spend there, the most spiritual power we will have. 

The temple is essential to our testimonies. If you have questions, doubts, or difficulties, go to the temple.

Esta fue una semana llena con un montón de cosas de las que hablar, ¡así que esta semana vamos a hacer un desglose día a día! 

Lunes: Comenzó el día comprando y comiendo una pizza absolutamente gigante! (No sabíamos qué tan grande sería antes de comprarlo). Luego aprendí a jugar al fútbol, básicamente soy Messi. 

Martes: ¡Divisiones con las hermanas de VM2B! ¡Estuve con Hermana Napa y Hermana Farnsworth! Todos terminamos la misión al mismo tiempo pero #Nevertrunky. ¡Invitamos como un millón de personas a la Casa Abierta del Templo y tuvimos una lección de fuego en la que recibimos como 8 referencias de un miembro! Luego, por supuesto, terminamos el día con Grido y me reunimos con mi amada Hermana Jorgensen. 💕 

Miércoles: Cumpleaños de Hermana Jorgensen!! ¡Saqué las velas, las luces y las velas de cumpleaños y tuvimos una fiesta! (Bueno, toda la fiesta que puedas tener teniendo que trabajar todo el día como misionero).

¡Hice brownies y los comimos con helado! ¡También comimos queso a la parrilla y sopa de tomate! Hice un video de todos sus amigos y familiares cantando 22 de Taylor Swift mientras ella cumple 22 años. 

Jueves: Primer día de la jornada de puertas abiertas del templo y fuimos al templo a las 7:30 am y no fuimos a casa hasta las 9 pm. ¡Fue un día loco! ¡Éramos las Hermanas a cargo de coordinar todo para el día y fue increíble cómo la gente no dejó de venir! ¡Hubo un poco más de 1000 personas que vinieron ese primer día, lo cual es una locura!

Fue una experiencia tan buena. No entramos al templo, solo estábamos allí al principio para dar las pautas y el final para responder preguntas. Fue tan increíble ver a la gente salir del templo. Literalmente, cada persona que se fue, se fue impactada. Le preguntamos literalmente a cada persona qué sentía por dentro y no había una sola persona que no tuviera paz de día.

Incluso había 2 personas con las que hablé que no creían en Dios, y me dijeron que en la sala celestial se sentían mareados, como si hubiera una sensación de poder que se sentían mareados. Una mujer me dijo que en la habitación celestial sentía a Jesucristo y a Dios sentada a su lado. Luego comentó que quería ser sellada con su esposo que había muerto. 

Hubo tantas experiencias maravillosas que ni siquiera puedo contarlas todas. ¡Incluso había una familia de Alexandria Virginia que vino a ver el templo! ¡No hablaban casi nada de español, pero el padre había cumplido su misión aquí y vinieron a ver el templo! ¡Terminar el día fue agotador pero tan especial! 

Viernes: ¡Entrevistas con el presidente! No me preguntó nada sobre MyPlan, así que ni siquiera voy a hacerlo. ¡Hablar con el presidente siempre me hace estar tan seguro de que todo lo que hace está guiado por Dios y realmente recibe revelación solo para mí! Pero también me muestra el camino para ser más como Cristo y siempre ser humilde como él y dispuesto a aprender de mis errores. 

También Crazy Random pero en la calle había una canción que se metió al azar en mi cabeza y, por lo tanto, en mi cabeza la estaba cantando y, como 1 minuto después, Hermana Jorgensen dice: "Gah esta canción súper pegadizo acaba de aparecer en mi cabeza". ¡Ella comienza a cantar la misma canción que acababa de tener en mi cabeza! "When Can I see you Again" de Owl City. Fue tan loco y demuestra que realmente somos gemelas. 

Sábado: Una mañana súper increíble de visitas. Visitamos a un miembro en la mañana y compartimos una escritura y le gustó tanto que luego nos invitó a almorzar. Comimos todas mis comidas favoritas, empanadas, milanesas y papas fritas!! También Hermana Antuña nos llama diciendo que el turno del sábado está demasiado lleno y necesita que vengamos al templo. 

Así que vamos y veo a todos de Santa Rosa, especialmente a mi amada familia González con quien tomé una foto rápida. Y luego todos de Tres Arroyos!! Vi a Brenda, a la Annechini, a la Rodríguez, y lo más importante a Cintia y Candela!! ¡Fueron al templo por primera vez y dejaron llorando!

¡Fue una experiencia tan especial para ellas y su nuevo lugar favorito en todo el mundo es el Templo! ¡También conocí a Carmelito, quien nació justo después de que me fui! Fue una experiencia tan especial y admito que se derramaron algunas lágrimas. 

Domingo: ¡Puedo hacer mac-n-cheese desde cero! Esta es mi transferencia de chef donde aprendo a cocinar comidas extravagantes. 

El día estuvo lleno de reuniones, pero básicamente teníamos un devocional de toda la misión donde el presidente habló sobre la importancia de encontrar personas elegidas. las personas que ya están listas ahora mismo. fue bastante genial! También cenamos con esta increíble familia que nos dio Asado!!! fue tan delicioso. Literalmente increíble, comí tanto que básicamente rodé a casa.

Fue una experiencia muy divertida porque son personas muy divertidas y la mamá es de Chile y su hijo justo terminó su misión allí hace 3 meses así que estuve escuchando a todas las jergas chilenas como Yapo, Al Tiro, Cuico, Flighty, etc. Por un segundo estuve con Hermana Villagrán de nuevo. Fue muy divertido y extraño a mi querida hija de la misión y aprender palabras de jerga chilena. 🫶🏻

Pensamiento Espiritual 

Siempre parece estar centrado en el templo, ¡pero es tan especial tener un templo ahora mismo! 

DyC 109:13 "13 y para que todas las personas que pasen por el umbral de la casa del Señor sientan tu poder y se sientan constreñidas a reconocer que tú la has santificado y que es tu casa, lugar de tu santidad."

Todos los que dejaron el templo se fueron diferentes. Tal vez no entendieron por qué, pero sabemos por qué. Es literalmente imposible que todas estas personas se vayan tan impactadas si esta no era la casa del Señor. Testifico que el Templo es el lugar más sagrado de la tierra, y cuanto más tiempo pasemos allí, el poder más espiritual que tendremos. El templo es esencial para nuestros testimonios.
